Tiger Eye Tuesdays is my weekly touchstone for grounded courage and reflection. I keep tiger’s eye close as a symbol of steadiness and clear sight; the meaning comes from the intention I bring to it. This Tuesday, October 20, I am reflecting on what it means to let myself be seen without turning my whole life into a presentation.

Authenticity beyond accomplishments

I care about doing good work. My education, Reiki training, sound healing certifications, and commitment to service matter to me. I have invested in them because I want my intentions to have substance behind them. Still, a list of qualifications can only introduce part of a person. It cannot fully describe the care I bring, the questions I carry, or why authenticity means so much to me.

There is something vulnerable about that distinction. A credential gives me something clear to point to. Being myself asks for a different kind of courage. I value freedom, yet I know how easily the desire to make a good impression can turn into editing myself before anyone has had a chance to meet me. I want to be professional without making my humanity disappear.

For me, authenticity includes being a learner. As a graduate counseling student, I am still developing. As a Reiki practitioner and sound healer, I continue to deepen my understanding of the practices I offer. I can take my responsibilities seriously while acknowledging that growth is ongoing. I do not need to pretend that every question has already found its answer.

Presence in my Houston wellness practice

That matters to the vision behind Tha Alchemy Studios in Houston. I want the studio to feel like a place where a real person can arrive with a real life. My own commitment to authenticity has to be part of that welcome. The colors, the words, the services, and the way I communicate all carry an intention: warmth, dignity, and room to be human.

Reiki and sound healing belong here as complementary spiritual wellness practices. They are not medical or mental-health treatment. What matters to me is the attention and personal meaning I bring to the experience, alongside respect for each person’s choices. A beautiful space has value, but I want the care within it to feel just as considered as its appearance.

The courage of being known

As this October week unfolds, I am holding a quieter measure of resilience: staying connected to myself while making room for connection with others. I do not want every introduction to become an audition. I want my work to speak honestly, and I want the person doing that work to have room in the conversation too.

I am sharing this as testimony, not a lesson I have finished learning. My qualifications are part of my story. So are my curiosity, my intentions, and my desire to serve with care. From my desk this Tuesday, I am making room for all of that to belong. Being seen feels less like having a perfect introduction and more like allowing an honest one.
